Should we be "following" Obama or anyone in this way?

In viewing all the mass crowds that have been following Obama and seeing all the emotion, tears and hope. A question popped up in my mind.

The US is in a tough time right now, should we be looking to someone to "lead" us or should we look to ourselves to work harder, take responsibility for our actions and life and move forward.

Take a look at the web sites attached, I found both when I did a google search under propaganda.

We should be looking for both. We do need a leader who will work on our behalf to protect the Constitution, engage in a defined foreign policy and push for domestic regulation on government and big business that we as a people cannot do.

We also need to participate in the democratic process to ensure we are doing everything we can to help ourselves. Save money, help teach our children, participate in our communities, etc.

We do need both, but American citizens on their own cannot start or stop war; it is out of our hands. We cannot veto a bad bill; only the president can. We must have a president that we can TRUST to tell us the truth. We must have a president who will elevate the respect of this country in the world community; something the citizens cannot do.

I don't think we are "following Obama", rather we are supporting him. Similarly, I think Obama is supporting us, rather than leading us. His leadership role is with Congress, government, the military and world Heads of State; not so much with the American public.

Obama said he wanted to lead the country, (not its citizens). He also said he needed our help and that he could not solve every problem without our involvement.
